Col. (Retd) Patrick Howell, PHD

Dr. Patrick Howell is a retired National Security professional with 30 years of service in a variety of command, staff, and academic assignments in the U.S. Army, Special Operations, and the Department of Defense. He spent the last nine years of his career as a Chief of Staff of the Army Advanced Strategic Plans & Policy Program (ASP3) Fellow, with the last three years of his career as the Director of the Modern War Institute, a West Point- an Army-level think-tank tasked to help prepare the Army, as part of a Joint, Interagency, and Multinational team, “to win to win tomorrow, today”. His education includes a: Ph.D. and MA in Political Science from Duke University; an MMAS from the School of Advanced Military Studies; a MALD from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy; and a BS in International Relations from USMA.
