CAPT (Retd) Lance Lesher (USN)

Mr. Lance Lesher currently serves as a consultant and senior system engineer. As a system engineer, he provides senior-level analysis of architectures, engineering design specifications, and functional requirements to support the Department of Defense with mission-based analysis. As a senior analyst, he measures current capabilities against assumed strategic risk and provides insight into technological and operational solutions to bridge those gaps and sustain competitive advantage.

As a consultant, Mr. Lesher provides subject matter expertise to support mentoring and training of senior military officers and major command staff as part of deployment preparations for naval forces.

Mr. Lesher enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1985 and retired in 2021 as a Captain. His operational tours included Commander Amphibious Squadron EIGHT, Commander BATAAN Amphibious Ready Group; Operations Officer, Expeditionary Strike Group TWO; Commanding Officer USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45); Chief Staff Officer, Destroyer Squadron TWO FOUR; Civil Liaison Team Leader/Civil Affairs Officer, Multi-National Division Baghdad; Executive Officer USS MCINERNEY (FFG 8); Engineer Officer USS OAK HILL (LSD 51); Navigator USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) and CIC Officer USS BARNSTABLE COUNTY (LST 1197).

Other assignments in the Navy included Surface Warfare Officer’s School; military fellow Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); surface warfare tactics instructor; Deputy Global Force Management Division, US Special Operations Command; Future Operations Officer, Fleet Forces Command, and Director Amphibious Warfare, Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center.

Mr. Lesher has a MA in International Relations from Salve Regina University and a BS in Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
